Social innovation has been described as ‘new ideas that work in meeting social goals’ and ‘products, processes, and policies that are transformative in their outcome with respect to building greater social resilience’.
Colab is launching a Social Innovation Hub for social innovation research and practice. The hub will surround and support the new postgraduate suite of social innovation programmes which will begin delivery from July 2017.
Submissions can be in the format of a blog post, video or journal article. Topics may include:
- Stories of practice / case studies
- Research projects
- Literature / contextual review
- Musings / opinions / explorations
Published on Social Innovation Hub
Blog post submissions are to be between 250 and 300 words, and include a title and a list of tags/keyword (ideally also an image for which there are permissions in place eg a photo of the author)
Video submissions are to be a maximum of 3 minutes.
Videos will be uploaded to the Social Innovation Hub Vimeo channel and embedded in the Social Innovation Hub website. Videos must use Vimeo recommended settings.

The Journal of Creative Technologies (JCT)
Journal Article (initial abstract and then full paper):
We are inviting submissions of abstracts of 300 words outlining the scope of a paper to be published in The Journal of Creative Technologies Social Innovation thread.
Abstracts are welcome between December 2016 and May 2017 and are to be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. Abstracts will be reviewed and, if accepted, authors will be invited to submit a full paper of 4000-5000 words (or equivalent in another format). Full papers will undergo a double-blind peer review and will be published to the Social Innovation thread when ready between March 2016 and March 2017.
JCT encourages submissions of or including multimodal formats, such as images, video, audio, 3D models, GPS via Google Maps, software code, live RSS feeds or virtual environments. If you have any questions about the format of your paper or media you’d like to include please email email@example.com.
